I don’t see anything of concern on the plastron. The scratches probably happened from crawling over a stone with a sharp edge or similar. If you are really concerned, get a tube of the cheapest athlete’s foot cream from the dollar store, and wipe a dab on the plastron for a couple days. Its not necessary, but if there is anything there it would get rid of it.
Please share pics of your enclosure and lots of other angles (like profile, and front, and face) of your tortoise.
What did they tell you about this little one’s history? Where did you get if from? What are you feeding?
How often are you soaking and for how long each time? Soakig is important.

Your profile says you are from Colorado. We have just about the worst climate for RedFoots – they are a Tropical species and need HIGH humidity (84%) and warm temps (84F) 24/7. As a double whammy – all species of tortoise need similar habitat for their first three or so years.

*This is an older essay, while still having lots of great info, there are a couple things we’ve discovered to not be best keeping practices and no longer recommend. Never use sand, moss, gravel, or any item that is not digestible and can be swallowed, inside an enclosure.
