When all you know in life is suffering and neglect, you can’t help but show it through the windows of your soul. This was the case for this unfortunate dog named Dora.
Sitting there in the kennel of the local dog pound, her calm disposition might seem like she is okay. But her eyes betray her quiet temperament.

They show deep sorrow and despair brought by her years as a stray and kennel dog.
One quick look of her eyes and the rescuers from Howl Of A Dog immediately knew they had to help Dora. They wanted to show her that there was life outside her cage.
Dora’s Sad Histroy
At the dog pound, no one exactly knew what Dora’s life was like before her capture. All they knew was that she was a stray dog that roamed the streets in Romania. She was then captured and taken to the local dog pound and has stayed there ever since.
While life in the streets isn’t safe for any stray, Dora’s life in the pound was not an improvement. When she was removed from the pound, the rescuers immediately noticed how underweight she was, how matted and dirty her fur was, and how her skin had lesions.

Worse, Dora showed signs of being traumatized.
She walked around with her head lowered, tail tucked between her legs. She had nervousness in her movements.
It’s no wonder her eyes were a deep well of sadness and hopelessness.
Dora’s Rescue And Rehabilitation
Dora’s rescuers might never know the full extent of her suffering, but they knew they had to help heal her spirit. Bit by bit, they showed kindness and love to poor Dora. Gentle pets and comfy baths were the first steps.

After two weeks of constant care at the shelter, she finally wagged her tail for the first time!
It was the kind of wag that showed timidness and a bit of nervousness, but it was a good sign that Dora was finally open to receiving happiness again. To say her rescuers were overjoyed is an understatement.
Sad Eyes No More
Dora’s rehabilitation was a long road, but she eventually warmed up to her rescuers and fellow shelter dogs. Dora loved walks and frolicking in the grass with her shelter fur friends. She loved her soft and fluffy bed and would lounge there whenever.
Howl Of A Dog shared Dora’s tale online, and it touched the hearts of a family from England. They decided to open their doors to this sweet pooch and adopted her.

With her fur-ever family in Devon, England, Dora now enjoys a peaceful life in the countryside. She has a new canine brother, a black labrador named Cole, who acts like her big brother, gentle playmate, and protector.
Nothing but happy days await this pooch, and she can finally rest easy knowing her terrible experiences have come to an end. Her eyes are sad no more.
